Physiotherapy Consults (Canine)
Physiotherapy for animals helps to restore and maintain mobility, function, independence and performance. A veterinary referral is preferred prior to treatment, this can be arranged by the centre. Initial physiotherapy assessment can be performed at the centre or in your home.

 

A Physiotherapy assessment may include:

  • Discussing your pet’s medical history, current medications and current exercise routine
  • Observation – conformation/posture, muscle development and symmetry, behavior and willingness to perform tasks
  • Gait analysis
  • Palpation assessment
  • Joint range of motion
  • Muscle strength/length testing

A treatment plan will then be devised specific to your dogs needs
A Physiotherapy treatment plan will be composed and include specific home Physiotherapy exercises according to your dog, helping your dog to achieve progressive rehabilitation goals and increase recovery. Treatment plans are aimed at improving the performance and rehabilitation of your pet as well as their happiness and quality of life.

Horses are assessed and treated at your property.

 

A Physiotherapy assessment will include:

  • Gait analysis
  • Joint range of motion
  • Muscle strength/length testing
  • Discussing your horses medical history, current medications and current exercise routine
  • Observation – conformation/posture, muscle development and symmetry, behaviour and willingness to perform tasks
  • Horse and Rider assessments
  • A treatment plan will then be devised specific to your horses needs

Treatment will be aimed at improving the performance and rehabilitation of your horse.

Underwater Treadmill (Canine)
Our canine underwater treadmill is suitable for all breeds.

 

The treadmill has many benefits including:

  • Increased rate of recovery after injury
  • Increase muscle mass after injury
  • Cardiovascular fitness (heart & lungs)
  • Reduced weight-bearing for arthritic dogs
  • Muscle strengthening and conditioning

Swimming Pool (Canine)

Our purpose built pool for dogs, it is heated and has non slip entry and exit ramps.

 

The pool is 6m long, suitable for small and large breeds.

Hydrotherapy has many benefits including:

  • Non weight bearing exercise
  • Increased joint range of motion
  • Increased rate of muscle gain after injury
  • Increased tissue healing
  • Improved circulation
  • Improves strength and endurance
  • Cardiovascular fitness (heart & lungs)

Swimming is a highly effective Hydrotherapy tool for rehabilitation as it encourages increased joint range of motion, muscle endurance and strengthening and cardiovascular fitness without weight bearing. Perfect for dogs recovering post surgery or overweight dogs.

Rehabilitation Gym (Canine)
We have a purpose built room with rehabilitation equipment to aid in your dogs recovery.

 

Some of our equipment includes:

  • Fit-balls and discs for proprioception and balance training
  • Adjustable step-over poles
  • Assorted obstacles
